module-init-tools software package provides transitional dummy package (module-init-tools to kmod), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install module-init-tools
module-init-tools is installed in your system.
Make ensure the module-init-tools package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep module-init-tools *
You will get with module-init-tools package name, version, architecture and description in a table
